Stormers’ women’s volleyball finished the regular season 11-19 overall and 5-7 in conference play, but had some accomplishments that Head Coach Melissa Blessington is proud of.The Stormers play in the N4C Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) – Division III.

They beat the first Division II school in team history, and against a different opponent won the first set in school history against Madison Area Technical College, ranked fourth in NJCAA – Division III national polling at the time of this writing.

The Stormers finished fourth out of seven teams in the competitive N4C Conference that has the first and fourth ranked teams in the nation for NJCAA – Division III.

The Stormers had to play these two teams twice each during the regular season. They beat Joliet Junior College in the first round of the NJCAA playoffs to advance to the semifinals.

Blessington attributed not finishing higher in the standings partly to lack of experience when asked if there were any disappointments during the season.

“I would say with a team of all freshmen you are going to have disappointments,” said Blessington in an e-mail interview. “But I know every time we did lose a game, they learned from their mistakes.”

“So looking back there were games we should have won. But if we played the exact same schedule next year against the same teams, we would have won a lot of the games that were close that we should have won but didn’t have the experience of being in that position before.
