Crime prevention

As we begin the 2010 Spring semester, the Department of Public Safety would like to welcome back students, faculty and staff and wish you all a successful semester at MATC. We also want to take this opportunity to remind the college community of a few important crime prevention tips:Theft Prevention
Secure all personal property in locked desks, cabinets and lockers when not in use. Never leave property unattended in classrooms, offices, cafeteria, restrooms, or corridors.
Secure all classrooms and offices when not in use. Lock doors and turn off lights.
Secure lockers with a strong, reliable lock. Don’t share a locker or give out the combination/key.
Secure all valuables in the trunk of your vehicle.
Report all incidents of crime or suspicious activity to Public Safety or local police.

    Emergency Preparedness
Listen for emergency notification announcements. Follow instructions given in the announcements or from emergency personnel, faculty and staff.
Prepare in advance. Know at least two routes of evacuation from offices and classrooms. Discuss emergency procedures and expectations with co-workers and students at the beginning of each semester.

Department of Public Safety Contact Information
The Department of Public Safety now has immediate district-wide communications with all Public Safety staff. All calls for assistance should be routed through the Emergency Response Center, located at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus in Room M274. The dispatcher will determine the necessary level of response and will dispatch Public Safety staff at the affected campus.
