On June 26, a committee appointed nine individuals to the MATC Board. The committee consisted of Chris Abele, Milwaukee County Executive; Robert Brooks of Ozaukee County; Marina Dmitrijevic, Milwaukee County Board Chairperson; and Herbert Tennis of Washington County.
The Board consists of the following individuals:
Lauren Baker, David Dull, Melanie C. Holmes, Michael Katz, Graciela Maizonet, Jose Perez, Kurt J. Wachholz, Bobbie Webber, and Ann Wilson.
The Board candidates were chosen through a volunteer process; they spoke briefly about their background and why they were interested in the position and also submitted an applicant’s letter.
The Board is responsible for the school’s budget, new policies and ensuring the academic standards are met for students and staff. They also make sure that the educational programs are consistent with the emerging market and labor needs.
According to Kathleen Hohl, MATC Communication and Events Director, “the Board not only governs the downtown area college but all four campuses. Some people tend to get confused-they might meet downtown but they are responsible for all campuses.”
