Summer School class consolidation

MATC Administration decided this summer semester to move almost all of the classes to the Downtown Campus in order to address budgetary issues caused by their budget deficit.

With no prior experience with relocating all classes to the Milwaukee Downtown Campus, administration was going to cut the hours for student services.

The student services in question would be places such as the Library and tutoring centers.

Al Pinckney, Internium Vice President, said “We were trying to address a budget defect.”

However, due to higher enrollment than predicted, student services were not capped and instead kept at their normal operating hours.

Pinckney said, “We needed to make sure that students were not adversely affected by these budget cuts.”

Pinckney stated that there will be the hard number of the dollars saved by consolidating the campuses and a report from a survey that will be done by the students about the Downtown Campus Summer School program when summer school ends.

Students will be able to help shape opinion of this cost saving attempt by MATC administration.
