UPASS finally passes
Issue date: 5/9/08 Section: News
MATC's student senate recently finalized details surrounding UPASS, a transit program initiated for college students ensuring easy and affordable access to college and university campuses.
Students taking more than six college credits will be charged $65 per semester for an all-access UPASS card which includes unlimited access to county bus service, anytime of the day or night. Currently, the senate is hoping to extend this service to MATC high school students taking more than two credits.
The senate and school officials are hoping that this fee will also include a student parking permit which will allow students the flexibility of driving to school or the choice of riding the bus.
In the future, the Milwaukee County Transit System and MATC will develop a Web service that will enable students to find the most effective bus route.
UPASS bus service will become available this fall and is now available at all of MATC's four campuses, including the recent addition of service to Mequon.
