What you will do Johnson Controls invites you to apply for an internship working remotely due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. This internship is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives. Specifically identified internship responsibilities are outlined below. Duration: This will be a full-time summer 2021 internship. How you will do it: Work closely with Commercial Information Technology (IT) team members, IT leaders, and Business leaders to define, justify, and deliver IT Services and Investments that enable the achievement of short and long-term strategic business goals & objectives and advance the company's capabilities to provide a competitive advantage, while effectively leveraging the broader IT community of internal and external providers to successfully deliver those Services and Investments. Work with Commercial IT Team to collect and define BU requirements, providing recommendations on industry trends and best practices, creating roadmaps to achieve the long and short-term capability needs of the BU or Function, and performing analysis on business or systems processes to identify improvements and/or calculate the cost/benefit data. Develop and propose recommended improvements that incorporate lean tools such as standard work, plan for every part, KanBan, work balancing, visual factory cues, etc. Use basic project management practices to implement approved recommendations. What we look for Required Qualifications: Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university Pursuing a degree in Engineering Currently a Junior status At least a 3.0 grade point average Understanding of Lean and structured problem-solving methodologies Ability to collect, analyze, and visually organize data. Ability to develop, prepare, and present summary reports. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications: Pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering. Desire and ability to learn quickly and independently Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Experience or strong interest in process mapping Curiosity to explore both qualitative and quantitative process variables.
