We Are HiringSummer 2021 Internship!The Internship Program with Ascension is designed to provide an on-the-job learning opportunity aimed at gaining "real world" work experience in a large healthcare environment, supporting leadership with data driven insights that deliver value to those we serve. Ascension's objective is to provide a working and learning environment where interns can develop the skills and competencies necessary to grow into successful professionals and potential Ascension associates.What You Will DoActuarial Development Program (ADP) focuses on developing future leaders of Ascension who will create innovative business solutions based on actuarial principles and contribute to the success of the company. As part of the professional development process, participants (known as "actuarial students") will gain exposure to a variety of actuarial assignments. Work experience gained will enable participants to become well-rounded actuaries and knowledgeable in several areas of actuarial practice. Such areas of practice may include product development, pricing, valuation, actuarial modeling, risk management, asset liability management, finance, investments, underwriting, emerging actuarial issues, technology, data analysis and auditing.Responsibilities:+ Compiles analytical and statistical reports as needed.+ Formulates, defines and recommends scope and format of reports.+ Oversees provision of ad hoc management reports.+ Reviews information for accuracy and reconciles data on a regular basis.+ Book of business, network level, and market level trend analysis for Commercial and Medicare lines.+ Transform data to analyze financial value and adequacy of our provider networks and value-based contracts within the Commercial and Medicare populations.+ Evaluate and track medical cost initiatives on Commercial and Medicare populations.+ Support analysis of Managed Care programs and opportunities within commercial and Medicare contracts.+ Shared savings program analysis.+ Competitive analysis of provider networks.What You Will NeedEducation:+ High school diploma/GED required.+ Enrolled in degreed program specific to discipline required.+ Working toward actuarial credentials with evidence of successful completion of at least 1 actuarial exam preferred.+ Focus on degree programs in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science or a related field.Preferred Competencies:+ Strong technical skills, specifically in writing queries, manipulating data and visualization of data.+ Excellent Excel and SQL skills and major plus if versatile in Tableau.+ Demonstrated ability to find patterns of analysis and provide insights into the underlying data.+ Ability to deliver results.+ Deals well with ambiguity and "start-up" environments.+ Excellent communication skills.Why Join Our TeamAscension is a faith-based healthcare organization dedicated to transformation through innovation across the continuum of care.
