This is a full time (40hrs/week) paid internship that will begin on June 7,2021, and conclude on August 13, 2021.About The TeamThe Global AI - Machine Learning and Data Science (AI/ML) Team focuses on initiatives to providein-depth, actionable insights and automation across the enterprise. The team partners with both CIOand product teams to drive efficiencies and leverage Machine Learning, Data Science, and automationfor cutting-edge product development and revenue generation. The core functions of Machine Learningand Data Science can be described as follows:The goals of the AI/ML team include bringing in competitive advantage, new businesssolutions, innovating ways to solve human and machine problems, and improving customerinteractions.To achieve these goals, the team operates in an agile framework and uses cloud-platforms forrapid prototyping of Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics solutions.Solutions are developed in a project-based setting in partnership with internal and externalclients. They include the areas of Natural Language Understanding, ML-based automation,Dashboarding, and Real-Time Predictive Modeling.In addition to development, Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineers partner to maintainand support solutions after they are deployed. The team ensures exceptional model performance andminimal model drift.What You Will Be DoingDevelops financial models by researching and creating new mathematical equations for theefficient pricing of complex financial products, calibration of risk models, regulatorycalculation mandates, and the changing demands of the market and credit events.Creates the prototypes and productizes the innovative software components to address currentand future problems in financial risk management and risk-based pricing.Contributes to framework design software; models into software pattern.Writes code and completes programming on the unique mathematical models developed, withaccuracy and consideration of system performance.Documents clear and concise reports of both the mathematical finance theory and softwareprogramming implementation details, including procedures for installation and maintenance.Explains financial software creation and maintenance by authoring functional requirements,functional design, technical design specifications, and effort estimates.Performs extensive scale system software testing and the development of regression tests forall newly coded models and algorithms.Supports in the maintenance of released software by analyzing issues, bug fixes, and directclient support where required.Defends, validates, and assesses model choices and assumptions in high-pressure environmentssuch as during client engagements.Understands the realities of model development and can make pragmatic and business-awarechoices when trading-off sophistication and accuracy versus implementation and performance costs.What You BringRising Senior (graduating December 2021 through May 2022)Strong written and communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteAdaptability, a drive to learn, and strong problem-solving skillsAbility to work well independently and within a teamHighly self-motivated, with a genuine desire to contributeFlexibility to work varying coverage hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays.A Bonus If You HaveExcellent analytical, decision-making, and time management skillsAbility to persuade and influence others on the best approach to takeAbility to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure thesuccessful completion of these projectsAbility to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization and a teamenvironmentStrong database skills are preferredWhat We Offer YouCompetitive full-time paid summer internshipOpportunity to participate in projects that directly impact business valueThe chance to work on some of the most challenging, relevant issues in financial services &technologyTime to support charities and give back in your communityA work environment built on collaboration, flexibility, and respectPrivacy StatementFIS is committed to protecting the privacy and security of all personal information that we processin order to provide services to our clients.
