Graphic Design students asked to enter a submission for Chess Club’s logo design contest

$50 Cash Award Open to All MATC Students!

Hoping to attract the works of aspiring and talented graphic arts majors, the Chess Club has decided to sponsor a contest that will award $50 in cash to the student that submits the most attractive and professional chess logo design for the club. The contest is open to any MATC student. However, to insure that there is an adequate supply of design submissions for the contest, the club is glad to report that instructor Craig Smallish has offered to contribute to the cause by allowing his class (ComArt – 112) to earn extra credit if they submit a design for the contest.

The club is hoping to find one truly great logo design which can be used for all of the club’s future advertising and promotion campaigns. Even though the commercial arts class will be submitting their designs at the end of this spring semester, the contest will remain open until the Chess Club’s first meeting in the fall semester. At that time a winning entry will be selected by the club through a vote.

The lucky winner will be recognized by the club as being the author of the design and as a result may receive a certain amount of notoriety. However, the winner will need to sign away the rights to his/her design.

All design entries may be submitted at any one of the club’s meetings. For more information and meeting schedules, go to MATC’s homepage on the web and click on “Clubs & Organizations”, then click on “Chess Club”.

The Chess Club seeks to provide a friendly atmosphere for students to relax after a long day and just have fun playing a very enjoyable game. The club has both frequent and infrequent members and there is currently no cost or obligations for signing up.
