Position Description
As a Robotics R&D Intern for Briggs & Stratton, you will have the opportunity to develop new technologies and applications related to outdoor autonomous robots. This position requires a self-starter that is motivated to aggressively pursue knowledge and innovation. The goal of the Briggs & Stratton Student Program is to provide trained, qualified employees capable of contributing to Briggs & Stratton Corporation in the future. Our program allows students to contribute to the success of the Company through their work assignments and provides students with a real-world work experience where knowledge learned in the classroom can be applied immediately to their work. Briggs & Stratton also offers students a competitive wage in a business-casual environment. Internship is full-time (40 hours/week) during summer with the potential to extend to part-time during the school year. Job Responsibilities
Assist in identifying use cases, exploring concepts, and analyzing research findings.Develop technologies and evaluate performance across the entire robotics technology stack including hardware, software, and operational strategies.Develop test plans and execute to advance team knowledgeConfigure and test sensors and lower-level technologies like serial buses, Ethernet, and CAN.Integrate different sensor, actuator, and computing technologies into robotic systems.Perform testing in laboratory and outdoor environmentJob Skills Requirements
Experience and interest in further developing skills related to robotics and autonomous systems in practical environments.Experience with one or more foundational robotics concepts including: localization, navigation, controls, sensors, networking, wireless communication, or software/hardware design.Hands-on experience with software development and testing on robots (ROS preferred).Broad electrical engineering knowledge in all disciplines (analog, digital, software, controls)Basic mechanical skillsEducation
Associates DegreeBachelor's Degree in Related fieldExperience Requirements
