We are there for our customers - come join us!Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a highly motivated Firmware Development Engineer Intern to work in the Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin office. This intern will participate in multidisciplinary research and will collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers in the design, development, and implementation of various firmware features for Enterprise-class Servers. The position includes the analysis, design, programming, debugging and modification of firmware (e.g., embedded code, BIOS). The work often involves digital hardware and real-time operating systems.Responsibilities:* Develops enhancements, updates, and programming changes to subsystems of embedded manageability firmware* Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines.* Executes and writes portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs issues with code and suggests changes or improvements* Participates as a member of project team of other firmware engineers to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem* Helps maintain and troubleshoot prototype hardwareEducation/Requirements:* Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related* Must be graduating AFTER August 2020* Courses taking/taken: Computer Architecture, Software Design, Computer Algorithms, Data Structures, Operating Systems or related* Position requires knowledge and exposure to hardware design* Must be very knowledgeable in C or Python* Linux familiarity is required* Strong programming skills, a coding test will be part of the interview processKnowledge and Skills* Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills* General understanding of firmware and hardware design, including interactions and integrations of firmware with hardware. Redfish and web development knowledge is a plus* Capable of working as an individual, or as a member of a development team* Strong software development skills C programming, makefiles or equivalent required* Linux experience is required* Comfortable working in large code base and debugging complex problems* Firmware testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools* Strong written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
