What you will do

Jo hnson Controls invites you to apply for an internship located in Milwaukee, WI. This internship is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives. Specific identified internship responsibilities are outlined below.

This Pre-Entry level engineering position joining the team that develops Equipment Controls, Building Automation System and Smart Building products used by our customers to run their buildings and manage their energy costs. Work as part of a team under the close direction of experienced engineers to apply and enhance your engineering development skills to develop applications, products and tools.

How you will do it:

As a member of the Controls Application Platforms team for Building Efficiency group, the candidate will assist the engineers in the developing, testing and supporting of control related products and platforms for the Building Efficiency business. This includes:

  • Learning about the general system components and requirements of the Johnson Controls Building Efficiency business.
  • Assist development team with analyzing and correcting defects.
  • Working on projects that aid in the development, testing of new features or enhancements.
  • Designing, Building and Setting up automated test configurations required to execute the assigned test plans.

  • Duration: This will be a full-time internship during summer 2019 and part-time (12-15 hours/week) during the semester. Candidates must be attending school in the greater Milwaukee area and available to work the indicated times.

    What we look for
    Required Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled as a full-time Bachelors student at an accredited U.S. college or university
    • Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering
    • Currently a sophomore, junior status
    • Currently attending school in the greater Milwaukee, WI area
    • Available to work 40 hours/week during the summer and 12-15 hours/week during the semester
    • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
    • Basic software coding skills required

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Demonstrates an ability to learn quickly and independently.
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) preferred
    • Demonstrate an ability to learn quickly and independently
    • Experience with Matlab and/or Simulink preferred
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to stand out, overcome barriers and deliver results
    • Prior work experiences as an intern a plus, but not required
    • Sophomore level students preferred
