The Men's Stormers Basketball team looks to have three straight winning seasons. Even though head coach Randy Casey has another young team there is no reason not to believe the Stormers will have an even better year than last year.
Basketball season for the Men's Basketball team began October 1 when the MATC Stormers held their first practice. Coach Randy Casey hopes to build on two straight winning seasons. "We had a successful season [but it] wasn't as good as I expected it to be; we definitely underachieved," a motivated Coach Casey states. Casey wears two hats: Coordinator of Athletics, and head coach of the men's basketball team.
Last season the Stormers started the year strong, racing off to a 6-2 start, but after the fast start the Stormers had an up and down rest of the year, ultimately losing to Joliet to end their season. The Stormers didn't finish as strong as the 2009 season. they were 19-12 that year, though They were still able to have a 17-15 record in 2010. What should fans expect from the 2011 men's Stormers? "We are going to be an up tempo team getting up and down the floor…we have a lot of new faces, 20 guys on the roster, only 6 out of the 20 are returnees. As a whole we have a more talented group. With a lot of new faces comes a big learning curve. The talents are there" an excited Coach Casey says.
Head coach Randy Casey and his 2011 Men's Basketball team looked poised for great things.Although they have many fresh faces they still have starters Rishaad Alexander and Patrick Zemonovic and other second year players to help show the freshmen the ropes of Junior College ball.
